Petra Scharnagl

Clerk in Bookkeeping
SONA BLW PRÄZISIONSSCHMIEDE GMBH,
Werk Munich

began my vocational training as an Industrial Commercial Clerk on September 1, 1977 at the Bayerischen Leichtmetallwerk Graf Blücher von Wahlstatt GmbH & Co. KG.

After completion of my training, I worked for one year in Controlling and then moved to Bookkeeping. My role includes the trade-on cash terms, as well as the accounts payable. I subsequently also contributed to the preparation of the end-of-month accounts.

In March 1989, BLW was acquired by Thyssen Umformtechnik. After the takeover by Thyssen, my tasks extended to the preparation of the end-of-month accounts.

The introduction of Hyperion meant that I was gradually familiarised with year-end procedures, as well as the preparation of reporting for the year-end procedures. The excellent cooperation with our colleagues in Remscheid meant that the introduction of SAP R2 1995, and the conversion to SAP R3 1998 in Bookkeeping, was achieved without problems.

In between, in 1996, I was also involved in the introduction of the auditing (SAP Module MM). The introduction of financial accounting in US-GAAP, with the additional implementation of quarter-end accounts, was a challenge that I greatly enjoyed. Cooperation in the planning in Hyperion is also one of my tasks. I am currently involved in a new accounting development to substantially shorten the times for preparation of accounts (Fast Close).

I think the extensive opportunities for further education at ThyssenKrupp are very good since I like assuming new tasks and look forward to innovations, whether in IT technology or in bookkeeping. The many varied influences mean that even after 20 years bookkeeping, there are still new challenges which motivate me.
